Cutting-edge Powder Coating Facilities

Calgary Powder Coatings Inc. is proud to offer the Calgary area with prompt and professional service. Our facilities in Calgary allow us to customize our powder coating operations to fit our clients’ specific needs.

Pre-Treatment Systems

  Chemical stripping and heat stripping

Currently, two forms of coating removal are offered at our Calgary facility. Chemical stripping allows us to remove previous coatings without subjecting delicate items to high temperature. Heat stripping provides an efficient, time-saving method of removing previous coatings on steel. This allows us to offer a quick turnaround time for your complete satisfaction.

  Iron phosphate conversion coating

Our five-stage dip and spray washing system includes a degreaser/detergent as well as an iron phosphate conversion coating. It provides an ideal surface for powder application to cold-rolled steel and aluminum. Currently, our dip system can accommodate items 11’ x 4.5’ x 5.5’ (3.35m x 1.37m x1.67m) and our manual spray wash can accommodate items of almost any size.

This process provides our customers with additional corrosion protection for their product and guarantees a uniform, unblemished, and attractive coating surface.

  Media blasting

Our two media blasting facilities offer our customers several degrees of mechanical surface preparation and are large enough (40’ x 10’ x 12’) to accommodate oversized and awkward items. We combine our spacious, expansive facility with our years of industry insight to strictly adhere to NACE, SSPC, and ISO standards for mechanical surface preparation. The combination of our facility and commitment to excellence offers our customers the most complete surface preparation available, therefore providing maximum protection against corrosion and extending the life of your products significantly.

Production Lines

  Large production line

The larger of our two lines includes a 40’ x 10’ x 12’ (12.2m x 3.0m x 3.6m) oven and a 40’ powder booth with two Nordson Surecoat® powder guns. Connected by overhead tracking and a powered 40’ transfer, this line has a maximum weight capacity of 10,000 pounds (4,536 kg). This line was specifically designed to powder coat very large, heavy material efficiently. With a 40’ maximum part length, it is well suited to powder coating light standards, pipe, and heavy industrial machinery.

  Small production line

Our smaller line includes an 18’ x 8’ x 12’ (12.2m x 3.0m x 3.6m) oven and an 18’ powder booth with two Nordson Surecoat® powder guns. This line also includes a fluidized bed for the application of fusion-bonded epoxies. Connected by overhead tracking with a manual 9' transfer, this line has a maximum weight capacity of 1,000 lbs (454 kg). This line was specifically designed for large volume, small part batch orders as well as short-run and custom work. Its multiple tracking system allows maximum efficiency when racking small parts.

The inclusion of a fluidized bed to this line offers our customers the option of finishing their items with a fusion-bonded epoxy, such as 3M Scotchkote or Dupont Nap-Guard.
